for release no.4 sudden drop enlisted the talents of russian based recording artist & dj tripmastaz, who has been producing for the likes of morris audio and most noticeably dj sneaks magnetic recordings imprint since 2004. with each release his sound seems to get more defined and mature and our attention which seriously pricked when we first heard his tracks being played on jus-eds radio show. we quickly got in touch and asked for some tracks. first up is >utilized stock sounds<, originally produced in 2003 this melancholic slab of deep techno deservedly finally sees the light of day with a grimy lo-fi feel and enough dance floor nous to work the floor admirably. flip side track >botinko dub< injects a big, cavernous bass line and razor sharp hats n snares.

berliner martin dawson and polish duo catz n dogz join forces to bring us this fierce three track ep entitled no nights. the first track on this release is no nights. brimming with warm pads and an accusing, dark lo-fi synth line this version has a deep vibe to it and the ability to really get under ones skin. following this the berlin-polish team hit us with no nights (beatz mix) a catchy tech-house number with a lo-fi synth line sporadically accompanied by a melodically decending dubby synth. combined with the crisp vocal line this makes for a very promising track. no days, the last track on this release gets straight to business with distorted vocals and a menacing bassline that intertwine throughout the track. varying rhythmical flourishes keep it interesting, while tripped out synthesized sounds guarantee to get any dancefloor grooving. we couldnt be more pleased with the results of this tenacious trio and we look to the future in hope that they are already planning further collaborations.

label bosses are back in tandem for the sixth release on micropunto: wine ep, which also marks the beginning of micropunto schallplattens vinyl era. wine ep started as a back to back game after a spillage incident. ikkaku and d-gelo started producing two separate tracks in their respective stations and every half hour they swapped seats, building the tracks as they went along. the result is this musical experiment that sets the trend for all things to come from the micropunto clan. they spilled wine on me kicks in with a deep lead stab from the catacombs. the elements appear on the scene in a stride to resurface. it goes up then down, left, rigth, it gets dubby, then back in your face. in i spilled wine the beat unfolds steadily like a bulldozer coming up to the surface in search of the true sound. next we meet the preacher. with a subtle housy piano lead he puts us in the right track, reminding us that the dance floor is made of sand and we are on the rivers bank. listen to the flow. lord techno, you are my music. originally inspired from a dub tune featuring ras ajay from the spaceship sound crew in london,dubwine closes the triangle with a huge dub flare. fat subsonic bass and broad stabs make this track a serious contender on the dub techno charts. its the producers blink of respect to the reggae culture that has inspired them all through the years, hence the vinyl release.

for his second transmission as part of the mindshake family, carlo lio drops a propulsive, meticulous building stomper of a tune. lio creates an impressively spacious and dark sound sphere which envelopes and lures the listener in as the beat subtly builds tension and release. complementing the core elements of the track, crisp drum fills and bell chimes pierce through the mix while a hypnotic repeating synth line wont let you wake up. ghostly vocals channeling the sounds of long past soul singers, add an unexpected but welcome house element. specifically geared for that time of the night when you want to add a wtf moment.

tony ollivierra begins 2011 by getting down with the machine sound. bordering on acid-funk, this ep really gets it shakin. the title track jericho, reeks of the latter days of disco with a deep bass line that fades in and takes control of the party. a warm synth chord then kicks in along with some strings which build up to a peak time climax. nag champa captures a deep and surreal groove with a sweet aromatic feel that definitely is burning. the dark bass line entangles the listener in a sensual moment while a resonant synth riff tops it off. on the flip, midi aura begins with an uncompromising synth bass line that does not quit. the sequence bubbles onward and a thick chord sweeps through the arrangement opening up into a placid apex of harmony. the aura of this midi is feel good all the way. lastly jack box, another acid track that works the cutoff and resonance into a climax of delightful poly rhythm and melody. jericho will be a very limited vinyl press and will be the final project on the ibex music label. keep your ears open for his next label venture which will be introduced this summer.

a1: buch - trippy house track. one for the club, heavy drums and evolving synths. main synth line is hypnotic but driving. killer track!
b1: hit me slowly - hit me slowly takes the tempo down from the a side, keeping the hypnotic house vibes going. a slow groover with an awesome bass line. got that outer space feel!
b2: argo - more of a traditional house tempo on this one. focused on the deep popping bass line. lots going on around but the bass is what makes this stand out. cool little samples echo all over. the synth hook adds the hypnotic element to tie it in with the other tracks on the ep. big, big track!

the winter saga continues… this being the second release on art of vengeance, aril takes yet another turn in style, or rather back to the sound of the winter ep that was released on kompakt in 2007. the title track is is a journy in melodies built in layers, trying to fit as much melodies in one track without going over the line. maybe it is over the line? tundra is a bit more on the rough side but with arps and chords coming in and out while glacär/for minou strips things down a bit to a more bassier and warmer sound with string/chords, less melodies and more groove

after the emotive release of rick howard, its time for hhyr to step it up a notch again with fellow chicagoian ricardo miranda, who already gave us >black acid< last year and also was featured on rick wilhites >vibes< compilation. <br (/>>floorwax< urges us to do the damn thing, assuming that he leaves us no choice but to slam dance to this hypnotic acid work out, which reminds us slighly of earlier dj funk material. >redline< further explores the boundaries of acid house originale. it starts out with just drums and a pulsating acid line, but halfway through a utopian string line eases in and shows us the way to the promised land. keep your heads up and dance to the music.

for release no.4 sudden drop enlisted the talents of russian based recording artist & dj tripmastaz, who has been producing for the likes of morris audio and most noticeably dj sneaks magnetic recordings imprint since 2004. with each release his sound seems to get more defined and mature and our attention which seriously pricked when we first heard his tracks being played on jus-eds radio show. we quickly got in touch and asked for some tracks. first up is >utilized stock sounds<, originally produced in 2003 this melancholic slab of deep techno deservedly finally sees the light of day with a grimy lo-fi feel and enough dance floor nous to work the floor admirably. flip side track >botinko dub< injects a big, cavernous bass line and razor sharp hats n snares.

here at bearfunk hq we firmly believe in perseverance. we keep asking questions until we get the right answer and with 6ft bear by our side the answer is usually yes. we kept asking ilija rudman to get in the studio and write us a killer lp but being the busy bee that he is it was hard for him to take the time out. we kept asking until he eventually caved in and went underground to record his first lp, >the reveal<. ilija is a devoted and passionate man when it comes to music. one of his prerequisites for recording an lp was that the recordings had to be made with the same techniques and equipment that inspired him to make music in the first place. so ilija hooked up with one of his studio mentors and got his dream line-up of synthesizers, roland jupiter 4 & 8, minimoog, roland sh2, juno 60 and his dream drum machines linn and oberheim dmx. these analogue machines fire up to create a warm and authentic vibe across the whole lp. we are reminded here that machines do have soul if used properly. we start proceedings with the wigged out boogie of >inspectors drive< which might be a little nod in the direction of wally badarous classic chief in< have all the ingredients of dj friendly hits. the lp reveals all the influences that ilija has experienced and it shows the talent that runs inside him as he is able to make such an amazingly retro lp sound like something from the future. we are sure in years to come this lp could become as important as the influences that inspired mr. rudman to make it.

adam shelton & subb-an have single handedly made birmingham cool over the last few years with their infamous below gigs at the rainbow. >feel so real< reflects the duos work at its height. it is a classic sounding house record with familiar vocal hooks, warm chords and throbbing drums. it stands out from the crowd in much the same way fcls >lets go< did last year. is it old or is it new? old school sensibilities brought right up to date with cutting edge production skills. so it was with this thought in mind that we approached new 2020 signings fcl to remix. they have added their own vocals and developed the hook into a synth heavy workout. the pack comes complete with another track >inside my head< which features a line many will remember from nights spent at warehouse raves, one for the spotters.

nice price deal !!! rippertons wonderful perspectiv imprint look to kick off their 2011 vinyl releases with the bribe em with candy ep. a debut on the label for german duo motec and daniel gelbe under their production pseudonym, eve white. some exquisite house tracks on this ep. lead track sugarbabe with its velvety tones and chocolate coated piano chords is the most delicious of starters. backed brilliantly by its timeless dub. its the cymbals that initially stand out on feel better. the open hats and ride shimmer alongside the twinkling keys. its unique vocal is underlain by an acid line thats contrast to the other elements, is the real key its success. rounding out the ep is anything goes. with pianos being the instrument of choice for eve white, its no surprise to find that the ivory rain-drops and warm throb of the rhodes are key here. this really is the finest of sunset and sunrise territory. bring on the summer!

a1: get cha - beat down funk feel with ltj written all over it! super vocal and a killer bass line as ever. coming at cha! a2: funky luv - again on the slower beat, properly done. the groove is awesome. a gentle track with lots of percussion, keys and a cool little vocal. typical ltj at his best! b1: the party - a more upbeat, housier number for the b. this track has real nice groove to it, again heavy use of the percussion elements. a long, evolving synth and super low end.

the italian disco producer has previously appearing playing bass alongside the heels of love (tirk) but turns out a spectacular solo summer burner with sparkling vocals from miss bee. ray mang (dfa, noid) turns up the heat a notch delivering a slow pop groover that shuffles and slips through a well crafted boogie beat underpinned with a grinding baseline. already receiving early support from bill brewster and many of the usual disco mafia. lithuanian super produce mario basanov (future classics, under the shade) further enhances the summer vibe with a glistening and warm house rework. perfect for poolside antics. the original retains the growling bass line which seems to constantly build and build. miss bee (former outings alongside toby tobias) laces delicate vocal which juxtapose the track perfectly. last but my no means least is a dance floor bomb, courtesy of bonar bradberry (needwant, under the shade) who remixes the original panzerotti track into an epic that will shift even the most stubborn of head nodders

we have a remix treat in store in the shape of an old zen classic - >rhubarb n custard<. remixed by the mighty taxman and on the other side a dubstep vip remix of >full effect< by zen.
if you havnt heard the original >rhubarb n custard< where have you been in the last 6 years... the original earned zen respect from a broad range of djs on the circuit, championed by andy c, grooverider, pendulum, roni size to name a few.

no time to take a breather, no time for a contemplative chill session - the second edition of bpitch control s werkschau (showcase) cd is about to hit the shelves! in line with the overall bpitch showcase concept, the new release is in no way just another run-of-the-mill compilation of best-of tracks, but rather a selection of extraordinary and highly functional club gems that represent bpitch s harmonious concept as perfectly as they demonstrate its musical breadth. the most noticeable characteristics the three extended versions share are their vocal presence and the extremely distinctive way that the artists make use of language and voice. in contrast, the fact that the ep is perfectly arranged for the dance floor comes across as almost a matter of course, and every track exhibits this inherent feeling in equal parts - with it truly coming to life in cormacs >the present<, which opens the albums a-side.

>a crowd teaser and crowd pleaser, constantly rocking it with music to make you smile< is a very fitting description of mobilees next new guest, ray okpara. with a string of big releases on labels including oslo, get physical and remote area, he has always stuck by his groovy, soulful and deep house trademark style and his brand new ep on mobilee >booty< is no exception to the rule! listening to soul, funk and hip hop at a younger age, he has carried these influences throughout his musical career, blossoming into an internationally renowned dj, live act and producer. title track >booty< is built upon an inescapable and never ending tightly swung groove, whilst >crabapple road< comes with a nice and deep bouncing bass line. >modern dance< and >coyoacan< follow suit with an equal amount of energy, creating a very strong collection of dance floor ammunition, which will likely be heard in clubs across the globe. get up on the floor and enjoy!

over the last couple of years, christopher rau has built a reputation as the finest ear canal masseuse in the contemporary house music scene, catching the attention of fellow hamburger dj koze who has recruited him for this new three-track ep. raus debut full-length asper clouds, released in the fall, was noted for straddling the line between >club< and >headphone< music, earning 4 out of 5 stars from resident advisor along the way, and now, with the how are you ep, he follows up to further explore his sonic approach: an assault of subtlety. >pervading animal< is built upon a solid foundation of familiar rhythm box elements, but like vines and moss, the sedating sounds of strings and keys envelop the empty spaces, showing christopher raus ability to combine the artificial and the organic into something transcendent. then, on the flip side, he lets his weirdness factor shine. at first, >c f r< sounds like by-the-numbers muppet new age, but graduates with distinction as the meowing synth squiggles saunter over the basketball beat. the ep denouements with >how are you today<, marked by a toasty chord progression thats playfully trying to compose itself as the track moves forward, turning science fiction into science fact. you want to believe

summer has come early. the fog is literally lifting and willing the summer to come early with this excellent ep for metroline. lead track diggler’s job is a breezy house number with pimping keys and a beautiful bass bounce. there’s plenty of movement in the percussion and a light touch that just begs for summer to come. shout romance is a shade tougher with its up-front kicks and acid-tinged bassline. it has slow burn intensity that is nicely counterbalanced by smooth reverb-soaked vintage synths.the jackspot remix of shout romance really brings out the funk in those synths, underpinning that with down-the line percussion and skittering hats that give the track a real drive. rounding things up nicely is in the right mood. the track’s bassline is sticky, sweet treacle over which congas and vocal cuts are expertly sprinkled to create a tasty treat. it never gets sickly though… horns are deployed sparingly, and the track has the same cool as a cucumber minimalism that makes this ep pure pleasure on the eardrums

felinephonix music sets off 2011 with the first installment of a limited edition vinyl selection from the project house of label artist & founder, mieka du franx, with exclusive dj support from kim ann foxman (hercules & love affair) and nina kraviz (rekids | underground quality). du box chronicles is an intimate collection of works & collaborations set to press. vol. 1 presents abe duque, the acid tech king of new york who delivers an elegant, journey-esq arrangement of avant guard deep house that inspires an uplifting vibe beautifully orchestrated with the warm vocals of mieka du franx, titled >du light<. >du what i du< (dub) is all about the hook and dig on that housey bass line, a classy rendition of the original that takes this number back. the 20th release of felinephonix music marks well earned return to wax. the label’s early most notable works were done with heavy hitters kink, jay tripwire, chris carrier, and fm attack, whose productions can be found along side mieka du franx. the hits that gained high recognition were from mixmag’s top djs of 2010 including kissy sellout (bbc radio 1) and luciano (cadenza), as well as support from derrick may, ralph falcon, hernan catteneo, rodriguez jr., mark henning, and many more.
